Alex Hernandez
Hello! I'm a freelance photographer based in Eugene, Oregon. I was born and raised in Coos Bay, where I was introduced to journalism when I joined the staff of The Marshfield Times. I later held the roles of managing editor and editor-in-chief. I graduated with bachelors degrees in English and journalism with a focus on visual storytelling from the University of Oregon in 2024, before completing my M.Ed in teaching and curriculum in 2025.
My goal is to tell compelling stories—especially those of underrepresented and marginalized communities. I'm also drawn to portraiture as a way of enabling people to confidently and authentically express themselves and their identity.
